The Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Course is designed to advance the skills, knowledge, and competencies of healthcare professionals who utilize and/or manage POCT or who wish to gain higher-level, specialist knowledge about POCT. This will enable improved clinical outcomes with faster, more accurate test results.
Medical Laboratory Technologist (HPCSA): NHD Clinical Pathology, Haematology Specials. Theresa owns POC Africa, a consulting and training organization specializing in Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), pre-analytics, and quality assurance. She is a recognized expert in the field with over 40 years of laboratory management experience and more than 30 years dedicated to training healthcare professionals in POCT and pre-analytical processes. From 2002 to 2017, she worked internationally, leading the development and successful implementation of comprehensive POCT services in three major hospitals in the Middle East. Before this, she played a key role in laboratory and POCT management in Cape Town. Theresa also served as Clinical Practice Coordinator at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (2019–2022) and currently sits on the Executive Council of the Society for Medical Laboratory Technology of South Africa. As a content contributor to LabVine, she continues to shape the future of POCT through her expertise, commitment to quality, and passion for advancing clinical practice.
