Scoring low in the category "Business Process" could mean that: 1. You have lost momentum on strategic priorities 2. You have a reactive performance management system 3. Environmental factors are impacting the lab's performance 4. There are environmental, system, or process norms that need to be addressed 5. There are seen or unseen drivers or inhibitors of success 6. There is a lack of insight reports 7. There is a mismatch between capacity and demand 8. The quality of metrics is not up to standard, and the control of insights is not in real-time 9. There is a misalignment in activities between the lab and enterprise level

The mission, vision, and objective statement for the future lab are not correctly articulated 2. The lab struggles with poor employee engagement 3. The lab has high staff turnover 4. The lab struggles to fill vacancies 5. Lab employees do not understand their role in the business 6. Lab employees do not have formalized individual development plans 7. The lab does not have a proper leadership development program 8. The lab does not have an effective stress management program 9. There is a lack of a proper performance management program

Scoring low in the category Future Proof could mean that: 1. There is a lack of a clear road map that will guide the lab to change within a fast-changing external environment 2. The lab lacks business intelligence and the capability to convert external and internal data into insights 3. The lab does not have all the tools needed to prepare itself for future demand 4. The laboratory information systems are not as effective and efficient as they should be and lacks system interoperability 5. There is no bridge between the lab and its IT strategy 6. Laboratory leaders do not have an accurate estimation of future demand and changes in test menus 7. There is little or no flexibility in the lab design to scale and provide for new equipment and technology
